Chetica Maus, DVM is a graduate from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Maus took an unusual route to her veterinary medicine degrees. She was a National Merit Scholarship winner who chose the University of Georgia for her first bachelor’s degree in Animal Science/ Pre-veterinary Medicine. After earning her bachelor’s degree she took some time to learn her chosen field and worked in private practice as a veterinary assistant for 6 years. She then went to work as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse at the University of Georgia College of \Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Teaching Hospital.
At this time she also worked many nights at an emergency hospital on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. During her work here she became interested in psychology and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Chetica Maus worked to join her interest in psychology with her medical interest and went to the University of Arizona to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling.
After receiving her degree from the University of Arizona Chetica Maus went to work for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs for 6 years then went to Veterinary Medical school. Since graduating from veterinary school Dr. Maus has been practicing small animal medicine in private practice and is now trying her hand at business management. She has also been working on managing a household with her husband, her nephew, three dogs, and cockatoo. Time off is spent reading, listening to music, trying her hand at photography, learning to draw, learning Tai Chi and Qigong, attending some of the many suncoast events and supporting local businesses.
